Great hiking routes

Several well known alpine hikes go through Arolla. On the Chamonix-Zermatt hike the campsite is the stop between Pra-Fleuri and Moiry. For the Tour du Cervin (Matterhorn tour), Arolla is an important stop before crossing to Italy over Col Collon. The campsite in Arolla is the stop N° 20 of Chemin des cols Alpins (Click on the picture to see the Swiss walking route N° 6).

Glacial hikes

Apart the summits there are also several glacier hiking routes in the upper Val d'Hérens. The glacier hiking routes needs a good knowledge of high mountain. You need also adequate equipment. Crossing of Plateau d'Hérens between Cabane de la Dent Blanche and Cabane Bertol. Crossing between Cabane des Vignettes et le Refuge des Bouquetins ou la Cabane Bertol. Crossing between Cabane des Dix and Cabane des Vignettes via Col de la Serpentine. Route Arolla - Zermatt via Tête Blanche and Col d'Hérens. You can also combine these routes to make a very nice 4 or 5 days glacier hike.
